Here's the latest selection of relatively random reviews for recent releases from the wider world of horror punk.
Zipperguts - Books of Blood (Album - 2025, USA)
The first full-length release from Zipperguts is a brutal lesson for those that think every horror punk release sounds the same. Describing themselves as 'Grindhouse Punk' is spot on - this is a dirty, raw, bloodied soundtrack to a serial killer; a grimy piece of malevolent horror punk that should be played with the lights out, preferably after indulging in obscure exploitation horror movies. The gravelly, tortured vocals of Jared Lord tell tales of murder, disfiguration and unhinged horrors - 'Smile', 'Shallow Grave' and 'Last Rites' being particular standouts, whilst the bells toll to open 'I Fuck Nuns' before it descends into blasphemous horror punk savagery. It's like a mix between dark 80s hardcore and first wave black metal (without the metal; through the grime and dirt this is most assuredly a punk album), the audio equivalent to that supposed snuff VHS tape passed around in your teenage years. It's a pretty great album.BOO! - Glow in the Dark (Single - 2025, Mexico)
Mexican horror punk band BOO! have released some absolute bangers of singles, and before the release of their first album (At Midnight, the cover art of which is used for this single) comes this latest offering, their Halloween '25 release 'Glow in the Dark'. This is straight ahead excellent modern horror punk; spooky Halloween vibes, well produced punk rock and a feeling of this being some ritual by moonlight to welcome their future album to the world. Along with The Batkins, Mexican horror punk has got a pretty bright future. The song can be downloaded on various platforms - check the bands Instagram out for more info.
Necrotones - Graveyard Tales (EP - 2025, USA)
Necrotones from Houston, Texas have released a series of individual songs over the the latter half of 2025, which are collected here (plus a new one) in the band's debut EP 'Graveyard Tales'. This is modern melodic horror punk which takes inspiration from the sounds of various sub-genres to create the bands own style. It opens with the pulsating introduction of 'Mr Midnight', horror punk with Beetlejuice vibes, before rattling the bones through the rest of the EP - the good ol' fashioned punk rock with a splash of 50s rock n' roll of 'Loving the Hex' is my favourite track, but right up there alongside it is the upbeat horror punk of 'Rats in the Walls', the slower 'Curtain Call' with a pinch of a metal influence and new song 'Come to Daddy' which is loud punk rock. All 6 tracks showcase the bands skill and style, and as a debut EP it's a good one.

Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space - Horrorfans against Racism / Monster (Single - 2025, Austria)
